Stone Walls as Art

Dr Jondi Keane, senior lecturer at the School of Communications and Creative Arts at Deakin University, is presenting art in the form of dry stone wall construction at Warrnambool’s Civic Green from 9:30am this Saturday.  Along with fellow artist Raelene Marshall and writer Patrick West, Dr Keane will host Ghost Muscle where visitors can investiagate the builders of stone walls of yesteryear, try stone decoration and engage in stone walling.

Ghost Muscle is just one event from the ‘Flows and Catchments’ project that will have workshops and an official opening exhibition at the Warrmnambool Art Gallery on Friday night from 6:30pm. Utilising natural objects that are found in the world around us to create works of art has been referred to as Earth Art or Land Art.
